Other than the bride and groom, is there any individual as important at a wedding as the wedding ceremony photographer?
This person is responsible for capturing all the memories of the most important day of you life - allowing you to relive your special moment forever. Nobody else will be able to create such a vivid and accurate record of your wedding day - so selecting the right photographer is critical to having a truly successful wedding ceremony.
One of the big mistakes made by couples on a budget is to get a friend or relative to take on the photographer's role. This is rarely a good thing - your photographer has to be focused all day on the job in hand - not trying to watch the ceremony, drink all the champagne, or flirt with the brides maids! It's also not fair to ask someone to work unpaid at your wedding ceremony - and all of this assumes they can e en take a respectable photo.
If you must try and cut costs, try and find a photographer who isn't yet established as a wedding photographer. They will be prepared to do a deal so they can build up their portfolio of work - Although you will have to agree to have your wedding photographs used for their promotion. You can also cut costs by getting the digital photographs straight from the photographer as part of the deal - very often the photos are sold individually after the event.
If you want an established wedding ceremony photographer don't just get the cheapest one - it is important that you get on well with them and that you see their portfolio of work and feel their style fits you and your wedding ceremony.
There are many decisions that you have to make before you get to say 'I do', but please remember that your choice of wedding photographer is one of the biggest.
